The Second Baptist Church Deacon Families Ministry seeks to maintain a sense of family unity through effective communication. We nurture and support each person in a manner consistent with Christian Values. The ministry offers opportunities for all that participate to grow, learn, develop and share personal gifts in a nurturing environment. As a member of Second Baptist Church, you are assigned to a Deacon Family based on your home city. The Deacon Families Ministry seeks to maintain a small church feel as the SBC membership grows. It provides opportunities for personal and spiritual growth through a supportive network devoted to comforting, encouraging and learning.
Since 1923, Second Baptist church has grown from a membership of about 12 living within a mile of the church, to thousands, many whom commute more than 30 miles, one way, to be a part of the SBC Family. With this growth comes diversity and geographical distance from each other. We rejoice when we work, worship and play together. We are better together than separated (See: Ephesians 4:11-15).
The Families Ministry nurtures Christian bonds by creating a communication network designed to support you in your Christian walk. The ministry is composed of seven Deacon Families that carry the names of biblical prophets: Amos, Daniel, Jeremiah, Malachi, Nahum, Zechariah and Zephaniah. Within each Family there are cell leaders, coordinators, deacons, deaconess and ministers.
Find your city or county below to determine your Family and leaders. Regardless of your Family assignment, you are encouraged to participate in all SBC events and activities. Welcome to SBC and the Deacon Families Ministry!
