"And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you."

Philippians 4:8-9 (NLT)

Thoughts To Ponder

2017 is behind us!  Regardless of whether we had great triumphs or extreme disappointments, there's nothing left to do but move forward.  What we need to determine is how will we move forward?

The world around us is so unstable.  We need only watch one segment of any news broadcast to be thrown into utter despair.  We, however, as Christians, are commanded to have the mind of Christ.  How we move into 2018 will determine how we process the onslaught of negativity that engulfs us. Will we have a godly perspective or allow society to shape our view of our future.  Philippians 4:8 (NLT) tells us to "Fix your thoughts...".  On what are we to fix our thoughts?  Are we to fix our thoughts on our political leaders, crime rate, job market, the Dow-Jones Index?  Or should we fix our thoughts on social media, how many "followers" or "likes" we have or the latest You Tube "stars" and the messages they're promoting? We are to fix our thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely and admirable.  Wow! What a list!  It seems impossible to do with consistency. However, we serve a God that equips us to do whatever He has commanded us to do.  We are told to first fix our minds on these things, then we are told to think about things that are excellent and praiseworthy.  Furthermore, we are to keep putting into practice all we have learned and received from God's Word.  The more we practice godly thinking, the more like breathing it will become.  When we fix our thoughts on things of God, we are ensured to have God's perspective which yields God's peace.

Today's Challenge

As negativity enters our minds, consitently practice asking God to give us His truth regarding each situation.
