Purpose of Lent

As we approach the season of Lent, it can sometimes be confusing to understand its purpose and significance. Lent is a 40-day period leading up to Easter, representing the 40 days Jesus spent fasting and praying in the desert. It’s a time for reflection, repentance, and renewal—a chance to deepen our faith through prayer, fasting, and acts of charity. While it might seem like a time of sacrifice, Lent is ultimately about spiritual growth, preparing our hearts for the joy of resurrection, and drawing closer to God through reflection, service, and self-discipline.
